Week of January 20

Yesterday, the fourth grade had a spelling bee. I noticed a girl named Nikole was in the lead. But, she spelled a word wrong. Other people did, too. I think she did a really good job. Miss Finley gave some hard words that I couldn't spell! The champion was Kelly. She did a good job, too! Congratulations, Kelly!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            By Nevaeh Delrossi

Last week in science/S.T.E.M. we were making low decimals and high decimals sounds. We also made some new instruments to amplify or make the noise louder.  In Music we got to play some new instruments. We also learned about a new person in Music.
At reading Phillip and I learned about the continental divide with Mrs. Anderson. She told her if the snow melts on the eastern side of North America, it will go into the Atlantic Ocean. Snow melt on the western part of the United States goes into the Pacific Ocean.
During Math, we learned about long division. It was hard for some of us, but we figured out a way to solve the problems.
We learned about new websites to get books in library. It is a good way to get new books. In Art we made pictures of our hands to make our hand pop up like 3 dimensional. We made designs outside our hands to wow other people.
On Sunday, my family went to a party. My dad had a part to play in the party. He played the harmonica and a funny part. I played many games like Twister and made rainbow loom bracelets. The theme of the party was casino, which is short for cards.
I had lots of fun and we have been busy.

Sincerely,
Swami

The firstr week of January and right before vacation

Two weeks ago was PJ day. We had waffles for breakfast, and we made a mouse craft. Everyone
had great PJ's that day. So far it was the best day EVER! Then we had snack. We all went to
the Christmas ceremony. Then the whole school sang Christmas carols. When we all got back
we had a book swap. I bet everybody got good or PERFECT books. Then it was time to go home.
It was so much fun, wasn't it?

December 12, 2014

This week was holiday shopping. Almost everyone got beanie boos. There were lots and lots of stuff there. The thing I liked most was the air hockey mini table and it was probably the first or second biggest thing there. There was lots of Red Sox and sports center stuff. I just couldn't pick what I was going to pick for my presents for my family. This week was Ms. Reed's last week and we all got to write letters to her. Some people were sad that she was leaving. We haven't been doing vocabulary in like 2 through 4 months.

Last weeks of November

We did Colonial Day activities on the last day before Thanksgiving vacation. One of the activities that we did was to make cornhusk dolls. One of the other activities was to paint stencils with a brush.
In Mrs. Ramsey's class we wrote with a feather quill. We made cornbread and butter, and played games in Mrs. Waller's class. Finally in Mrs. Beauregard's class we learned about Native American legends and made a bracelet. As soon as we started making the bracelet, I got dismissed. It was a fun day!

My Hair Cut Week.

This week I got a hair cut,. only some people liked it. We are writing a essay on America.  Jon, Kenny, and I wrote the most. We also are doing division with remainders.
In our class everyone loves Beanie Boos. At recess everyone wants to play with them. People even chase people for them. It is crazy how many people like them. The most popular sports outside are football, soccer, and kickball. I like football the most.

We had Veterans' Day off!

This week we started division with our multiplication. It is a little hard, but now I am starting to get a little better. We even had to do some division with remainders.
We have only been to school 4 days this week because we had Veterans' Day off. Thank you, Veterans!!! Last week we had Friday off because of conferences. Parents got good news at conferences. We are doing a good job as third graders.
In Word Study we are learning about double consonants. We divide the syllables between the two consonants.
We have been questioning before, during, and after reading. We read a weird book called The Stranger. We think he is Jack Frost.
I do a special thing in the morning called Start Your Engines. It is a little fun. I do exercises. Everyone in our class wants to go, too, but I am the only lucky one.
We watched a play about bullying. They gave us a tiger. We named it Noble for No Bullying. We are going to share it with all the other classes after we have had it a while.

Sincerely,
Martin

Halloween Week

Last Friday we had the Halloween parade and we had cookies with our snack. We did a spitting contest with pumpkin seeds. It was gross and Martin's seed went the furthest, so he won. We all went outside and people took pictures. There were a lot of people and kids. There were a lot of cool costumes. The whole school clapped for everyone in their cool costumes. It was the best day!
